Caught in the act presents alternative ways of looking, by asking what it means to watch in secrecy and to be watched back. Through an exploration into the mundane acts of home life, the three hand-drawn animations capture a subject within the comfort of their own home and invite the viewer to look into this space, by positioning them on the outside of intriguing circular openings in equally intriguing black boxes. The circular format represents a peephole, viewfinder or lens, accentuating the idea that there is an intermediary object that defines to us how we view the works. Through the process of exploring these boxes, the viewer is posed a question: are they catching the subject in the act or is the subject actually catching them.
