Harpy explores the ephemeral nature of transient relationships and the lasting marks they leave behind. Mono printing techniques are used to capture the library of stories held within trees and to discuss the nature of relationships, their growth, and loss. By repeatedly printing the same tree stump the work tries to capture the tension between transience and permanence.

The Dendrochronology of a tree not only reveals age but rather uncovers the passage of time. Tree rings are an annual record of the relationships once held with one’s surroundings.  It provides a rich tapestry of a life lived through fires, droughts, disease, and environmental degradation.

These markings remain deeply ingrained even after the tree has fallen, just as the impacts of fleeting connections persist within us. Harpy captures the tension between transience and permanence, exploring the enduring marks of briefness left behind.
