Red Saunders
Bachelor of Visual Arts
My work draws direct inspiration from the Canberra gig scene, taking on its essence in both material and concept. It celebrates the people and the culture that support the music that Canberrans are making and archives their experiences of the past five years. This is achieved by collaborating with the scene itself – from my outreach to individuals to collect stories, photos, and diverse perspectives.
My intention with this work is to invite Canberrans to celebrate a rich part of its culture and ask the art community to embrace and support an incredibly creative group. The zine accompanying this work acts as a guide to the collage – allowing viewers the chance not just to read the visual language of the work but learn about the people within the work and what they are passionate about.
