Drawing from personal photographs taken across a decade of my life, Recollection explores the intangibility of memory and the emotional resonance of lived experiences.
Combining screen-printing and painting processes, I use translucent layers to build up compositions that transform familiar imagery into remnants of thought within ambiguous spaces. While “Recollection” is grounded in my own perspective, this ambiguity invites open-ended interpretations, determined by the unique memories and observations of a viewer.
Each piece presents a fragmented visualisation of remembrance, where the repetition, obstruction and erasure of forms mirror how memories are accumulated, rewritten and dissolved over time.
By distilling my own emotions and memories into these pieces, I aim to create interactions that evoke reminiscence from viewers, while encouraging contemplation on the feelings or thoughts that may arise as they engage with each work.
