"To sing of Being" is inspired by transecology, the intersection of ecology and transgender issues. As a transgender person deeply concerned by continual environmental violence and the rise of transphobia, transecology enables me to decode these confounding trends and strengthens my connection with my trans body as part of an ecosystem.

In my process, I collect fallen leaves and bark from the eucalyptus trees next to my home to imbue the textiles in my work with their colour and shape. I stitch these fabrics together to acknowledge the full spectrum of my gender identity and history. I arrange them in abstract figurative shapes to connect human and tree anatomy, to blur the delineation between the human and the more-than-human.
