Impressions of nature

Much of my inspiration comes from the beauty I find in nature and landscape, which prompted this body of work. These mini-series record some of my observations and experiences of the natural environment with the endless variety of colour, vegetation, geological features, waterways and reflections. Sometimes I have responded in an abstract way.

In addition to creating two-dimensional imagery, I have added complementary ceramic forms as a second medium. When displayed simultaneously, the two-dimensional imagery and three-dimensional forms interact to express a hybrid 2D/3D impression.

My work includes 5 mini-series:

1.       “Impressions of Place” expressed as 2D imagery.  This includes 12 small works depicting varied inspirational locations plus two large paintings inspired by the Hawkesbury River.

Hybrid Impressions 2-5:

2.      An abstract “Impression of movement - seaweed”

3.     “Impression of Hawkesbury River Rocks”

4.     “Impression of the Australian scribbly gum tree”

“Impression of wildflowers”
