Alexa Kalogeropoulos

Bachelor of Visual Arts

Kalogeropoulos' painting practice focuses on still life and mealtime scenes, using colour and pattern to explore atmosphere and the quiet energy within ordinary spaces. Her work reinterprets the still life tradition through an intuitive and expressive approach, where pattern functions as both structure and rhythm, connecting objects and a guide across the composition. Influenced by Lucy Culliton’s expressive approach to everyday subject matter, Kalogeropoulos is drawn to the way repetition, arrangement, and colour relationships can alter how familiar objects are felt and perceived. Her paintings are less about representation and more about sensation, how tone, balance, and chromatic contrast can evoke a particular mood. Through this process, Alexa transforms simple domestic moments into studies of harmony, texture, and the subtle tension between stillness and liveliness.
