Kaede Jenkinson

Kaede is an artist who works in multitude of paint mediums based in Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri country. She specialises in watercolour but currently exploring acrylics to focus on mixed culture experiences. Responding to her lived experiences as a mixed person, she engages themes of melancholy and memories. Kaede's artworks is an opportunity to explore self-identity, creating a conversation between the past and the present.  

'MomojiGari' is an exploration of a fading memory and attempt of processing the passing time. It is an expression of melancholy that was triggered by the mixed experiences during childhood, referencing found objects from a late relative. This acrylic painting is an attempt to reclaim the unstable position that Kaede herself feels as an mixed person.
