Holloway's objects challenge traditional notions of ceramic forms. She delights in the inherent material relationship of clay and self in the process of hand-building techniques, such as coiling and joining. Holloway expresses an intimate connection with clay, reflecting memory and time. These reimagined objects oscillate between absence and presence. Drawing upon the deep history of ceramics, Holloway has created a series of objects that stand to disrupt ceramic practicality, inviting audiences to discover and enjoy form and surface. As Holloway embraces glaze behaviour on these forms, she challenges ceramics' inherent materiality and past. One's perception of glaze terminology provokes playful intersections between colour and form. She positions glaze as a connective agent between object, material history and metamorphosis. Holloway invites us to reflect on what it means to endure, to connect, and to be alive.
