Alannah Jarvis

Bachelor of Visual Arts

Alannah Jarvis evokes her love of children’s literature and stories into her artworks by creating screen prints which draw the viewer into entertaining environments. Her combination of bright colours and whimsical tone creates works which ask the viewer to reimagine the world around them with a childlike perspective. By taking inspiration from both popular media, and objects which impacted her own childhood, Alannah creates multiple compositions to then use as a map for adding layers, colour and texture. Through hand drawn screenprint layers and line work, each piece has a loose feel, adding movement and emotion. Visually, the prints often play with scale, transporting the audience into the view point of a creature which has to reimagine the world surrounding them. This style and concept asks the audience to escape for a moment and remember the importance of their own imagination.
